Our big litter pick
- Pudsey comes together to honour 11 year old who sadly passed away in April
- Family hope to raise £42,000 to support Keep Britain Tidy campaign and her dream of a world without litter
- Matilda’s legacy will help to empower school children to make a difference within their school and the wider community.
At 10am on Sunday 27th October, a large litter pick took place in honour of 11 year old Matilda Pritchard, who sadly passed away in April this year.
Matilda was passionate about the environment and loved picking litter in her local parks. This litter pick has been lovingly arranged by Matilda’s parents, Steve and Anna, and the Litter Free Pudsey Facebook group.
Matilda’s father, Steve Pritchard, explains, “Since our beautiful daughter sadly passed away we have been raising money to support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign as Matilda dreamt of a world without litter”.
“We would often go on litter picks around the parks in Pudsey and arranging this litter pick to not only raise awareness but make a small difference to our beautiful parks is a fitting tribute to such an amazing little girl.”
“Working with the Litter Free Pudsey team, the litter pick seems like the perfect tribute to honour her memory and raise awareness of their fantastic work and our fundraising campaign.
Over 30 bags of litter were collected and we did TV interviews with BBC Look North and ITV Calendar to help raise further awareness of the campaign.
More information about Matilda’s fundraising campaign can be found on JustGiving. The aim is to raise as much money as possible, with a target of £42,000, to support the Keep Britain Tidy Eco-Schools program to help empower school children to make a difference in their school and wider community.
